Public Religion Research Institute found that:
Of 2,658 mainline Protestant Clergy surveyed, nearly all (96%) say that lesbian and gay people are welcome in their churches.
Concurrently, less than two thirds (63%) of mainline clergy believe that the gospel requires the full inclusion of gay and lesbian persons.
Only 13% reported that their congregations had completed a formal welcoming process.
The Welcoming Synagogues Project research indicates:
73% of rabbis think their congregations do a good or excellent job welcoming lesbian and gay people.
Yet only 31% of Conservative rabbis, and 49% of Reform rabbis, said their congregations are actively welcoming of gay and lesbian Jews to a great extent.
Despite these beliefs, only 33% of rabbis report that their congregations have actually held programs or events related to lesbian and gay people.
